The situation of broadband in india

Hold your breath, while i start a LOOOONG rant of the situation of broadband in india/hyderabad.

So i started my internet journey with sify broadband. The guy demanded Rs. 1500/- just for installation. He said that my house is too far from the "HUB", and it would cost more to get internet. I didnt take any action at that time and i continued to search for more internet providers since Rs.1500/- for just installation was too much for me at that time. So i looked around and found that there is a office of BEAM CABLE broadband. I called them up and the guy came to my house, looked around and said it was not possible for them to give internet. I was living in the suburban colony of hyderabad and these guys cant give me internet.

Airtel didnt even have an office in my area

Reliance didnt yet started their broadband service. So now i was stuck with sify :( I paid for the installation, the guy came after whole 3 days. Then it wouldnt work right away. He even uninstalled my copy of antivirus and installed antivirus of their own. When i objected he said its their company's policy. well..

So after another 2 days, the net started working. This happened in august (the rainy season) and whenever there was rain outside i couldnt get the internet :( I called many times to sify customer care and the local cable wallah. They supported their argument saying the hub will get destroyed if there is any thunder/too much rain. So now every couple of days i would not get internet for the whole day. Some time even for 3 days straight. But they do come ON TIME for the bill payment. Did i tell you they take MORE money that they said on their sify website for the plan? They add SERVICE charges of anywhere from Rs.50 to Rs.200 depending upon the plan. Since i was in college at that time i didnt care too much about this. But the problem never ends with sify broadband. When holidays came, i used to get slow browsing speeds :( Since sify implements a HUB type of system, when all the people in our area connect to the internet the speed WILL BE SLOW for everyone.

Fed up with my problems with sify and their p*ss slow speeds, i opted TATA indicom broadband recently connected with wimax. I dont even start this rant because it will never end. Right from DAY ONE, they problem started. First the technician cant find my house so i had to literally bring him to my house. I didnt go for my job for this reason. These technician's came to my house and got to our terrace with their antenna of some sort to check for the wifi signal. I had been waiting for these people from the morning and they come at 6PM in the evening and now they say they cant find the damn tower to catch the signal. HAHHAHAHA. Well they said they will be back tommorow. Well whatever. The next day i called them up, they said they are busy and will come in the evening. AGain i called them in evening they said no sir we will come tomorrow morning. Again i called them, the next morning they said they will be coming anytime. I waited :( no one comes. Again i called in the evening they said its hard to find tower in the evening.. next day was sunday :( So finally after 3 day ordeal, they finally come in the friggin AFTERNOON at 2PM. They started searching for the SIGNAL. After 3 hours of searching, they finally get it. BUT. Its not upto the mark. So they thought of escaping of their work and installed my broadband with the same weak signal. It doesnt connect to their network most of the times and i cant take it anymore. Its been 3 months of torture from tata indicom and i couldnt take it anymore. Iam thinking of switching to BSNL, but they dont have any unlimited plans above 256KBPS. Iam surprised that these people are calling their service "broadband", i dont even want to even name reliance in my rant. Because by the time i would finish my rant i guess i would be too old or dead.

  1. Broadband in India is like hot chicks.

Really hard to find if you're low on money and luck.
