Whenever i search for something online, one thing always comes first in the google search result and that is a wikipedia article. Now dont get me wrong, iam all for open source and free knowledge. But lately iam sick of seeing the donation link on top of every wikipedia page.
And those people are getting creative with that space on top. Wikipedian's as i like to call them are changing their ads by the day to get much ATTENTION from the users to donate. By seeing that ads, iam feeling guilty because i dont have money to donate and it is as if wikipedia is doing a social service thing. My sincere suggestion to wikipedia is, please get a sponsor or get a VC funding and stop harassing me. If you dont have money to operate that site, sell it to google or yahoo. You dont have to put up a 500X300 banner on every wikipedia page for months on end. Its making me feeling guilty as iam taking information from the site and not contributing to it. Even if do contribute by posting content or making pages for wikipedia.. they dont publish my articles or changes and that sucks too.
